Valve's Open-Source Radeon Linux Driver "Love Song For Gamers With Old GPUs" (phoronix.com)

Community iconc/linux_gaming@lemmy.world by

As covered recently on Phoronix there has been several exciting improvements for aging AMD Radeon GCN 1.0 and GCN 1.1 era graphics cards for the open-source AMD Linux graphics driver stack. This work has been led by Timur Kristóf of Valve's Linux Open-Source Graphics Driver Group with an ultimate goal of shifting the GCN 1.0/1.1 open-source Linux driver hardware support from the aging "Radeon" kernel graphics driver over to the "AMDGPU" kernel driver already used by default for all AMD GPUs/accelerators from GCN 1.2 and newer.

[Help] Question about yt-dlp and skipping old videos from a channel/playlist

Community iconc/opensource@lemmy.ml by

So I'm slowly learning how to us yt-dlp and I'm trying to set up a default command to check a number of channels for new videos. Currently I have it set to download the first 10 new vids of each channel, and to skip anything past a certain date, but it takes a while to get to the date information I guess, which adds unnecessary time and checks, especially for channels that don't have any vids that are new enough.

Simplest Path to Jellyfin Access for the Developmentally Disabled

Community iconc/selfhosted@lemmy.world by
njordomir@lemmy.world

I have a developmentally disabled family member who would love all the content on my Jellyfin server. I worry that they would also click each and every option in the settings and they may struggle if navigating to the content is too complex. Picture someone who does not understand how Facebook works, but has created 20+ profiles and has 5-10 google accounts because their favorite YouTube got banned and they don't understand that it's not something wrong with the account. :-D LG WebOS is probably too cluttered and chaotic for them and they wouldn't be able to tell the sponsored/pushed content apart from our self-hosted stuff and would probably just add Prime video and try to rent the same movies they already own over and over again. :-/ I have a Shield on my partner and I's main TV and while it is way more logical and easy to use than LGs webOS or any of the stuff like that, it might be too much.
